I had a major physical setback today and broke my right foot
I was simply stepping over a pile of 2x4 and drywall on the floor and my back toe caught and my front foot, right foot, was in between some boards. When I fell I couldn't roll my foot forward. I thought it was a bad sprain and didn't call the Doc until the next day, then couldn't get in for 2 days.
** X-ray showed at least 1 break **
P.A. gave me a short walking boot and setup an appointment with the surgeon. Because of Christmas could not get in until Dec 27, 2022. They called and said don't be alarmed but we scheduled you for surgery on Dec 28, 2022 just in case. I said it did alarm me. Over christmas, I mentally prepared for surgery. My 91 year old father stayed 4 extra days to help me after the surgery.
Surgeon said I broke 3 metatarsils and also a Lis Franc injury, which is bad. A LisFranc fracture disloation is when the metataral bone is displaced from the tarsus. Basically my foot split in half the long way.
Surgery the next morning December 28, 2022. 11 screws and 3 plates on the top of my foot and one long screw thru the arch of my foot sideways thru the foot.
Cannot walk or put weight on that foot for 6 weeks which was an eternity for someone as active as I am.
update: 6 months later, this is a major life changing event that lasts a long long long time. Be carefull, do not do this. Still swollen, still tingly, walk with a limp, foot is 1/3 the strength of my other good foot. Going to PT still. I hope for a full recovery, but doesn't seem likely now. 1% better every week, so it will take 50 more weeks or 1 year.
