Dear AHS Alumni Association,
On June 2, 2006, my father-in-law, Gerald Sielert, a retired teacher from the Ames Public Schools, passed away at the
age of 90.
During his teaching career in Ames, (1950-1980), he taught Industrial Arts, driver training, and sociology, among
several
other subjects. He taught at the High School in his earlier years, then taught at Central Jr. High until he retired.
Soon after his wife died in 2001, he moved to Cape Girardeau, MO to be closer to family.
Last year for Gerald's 90th birthday some of you sent Gerald
cards or letters.
Thank you for sending those.
As a remembrance, I requested that the AHSAA post Gerald's obituary, and it is posted below.
Sincerely,
Gerald Lyle Sielert Obituary
